The Central Circuit Trail

Known for its scenic diversity, challenging terrain, and gradual altitude gain, the Central Circuit trail is the most popular and classic trekking route in the range. The trail is located in the western part of Uganda, in the Nyakalengijja village. Known as the oldest trail in the Rwenzori mountains, it takes 7–9 days to complete passing through all major vegetation zones, from tropical forest to glaciers, offering one of the most varied trekking experiences in Africa. Before it became a trekking route, the path was primarily used by the Bakonjo communities to move between villages, access highland pastures, and collect forest resources

While using the Central Circuit, observe different iconic features like Bujuku valley, Lake Bujuku, Mubuku valley, Scott Elliot pass, glaciers, and Afro-alpine vegetation.  During the hike, trekkers will also enjoy spectacular views of the major peaks, including Mount Speke, Mount Baker and Mount Luigi di Savoia.
